60 Seconds of science 1.

This is the first activity of "60 seconds American Science", a web page with further information of Science, summarized in 60 seconds tracks. This term we are going to see 2 different scientific news. Here is the first one:

1.- Look for the web page: www.scientificamerican.com.
2.- Look for the new: "Whale mimics Human Speech".
3.- Listen to the track, whose transcription in below the sound track.
4.- Answer the following questions: 

  • What does it mean the following vocabulary (write a English definition).
    • Parrot (as a noun and as a verb).
    • Speech.
    • Atempt.
    • Surface.
    • Uttering.
    • Pitch.
    • Tweat.
    • Squeack.
    • Chirp
    • Blowhole.
  • What is a "beluga"?
  • What do you think the following sentence means: "But this beluga turned out to be less canary and more parrot"?
